WATERSAFE60
DESCALER
Instructions
Coffee Makers
- Pour 2oz of WS60 Descaler with 6oz water in the coffee maker reservoir.
- Run a regular brew cycle (without coffee).
- Repeat every 1-3 months, as needed, depending on your water hardness level.
Ice Makers
- Mix 1 part WS60 Descaler with 3 parts water.
- Follow your ice machine cleaning procedures.
- Repeat every 1-3 months, as needed, depending on your water hardness level.
Surfaces with hard water spots
shower doors, windows, cars
- Mix 1 part WS60 Descaler with 3 parts water in spray bottle.
- Apply to surface to be cleaned.
- Leave for about 30 seconds before wiping.
Dishwashers/Dishes
- Pour 1oz of WS60 Descaler in dishwasher soap dispenser.
- Run dishwasher cycle with or without dishes.
- Repeat with each load for sparkling dishes or monthly for a clean dishwasher.
Tank & Tankless Water Heaters
- Disconnect power to water heater.
- Shut off main water supply valve.
- Close inflow and outflow water valves, remove service caps from isolation valves, and connect hoses to the isolation valves. (If isolation valves have not been installed on your heater, disconnect inflow and outflow hoses and connect descaler hoses directly to the inflow and outflow bibs.
- Clean inflow water inlet screen of any sediment or dirt.
- Add 2QT of WS60 Descaler to two gallons of water in a five gallon bucket.
- Connect one hose to the discharge outlet of a 1/6 submersible pump and the other end of the same hose to the inflow isolation valve on the tankless water heater.
- Connect the second hose to the outflow isolation valve on the tankless water heater and drop the other end of the hose directly into the bucket.
- Open both the inflow and outflow isolation valves.
- Turn pump on and allow the cleaning solution to circulate for 20 minutes.
- After cleaning is complete turn off the pump (don’t run the pump without being submerged in liquid).
- Close the inflow isolation valve, remove the hose, and replace the service gap.
- Remove the pump from the bucket and dispose of the used cleaning solution.
- Flush the tankless water heater for 5 minutes by opening the main water supply, opening the inflow isolation valve, and let water pass through outflow valve and drain on the bucket.
- Close the outflow water isolation valve and remove the hose, replace the service cap, and open outflow isolation valve.
- Clean inflow water inlet screen of any sediment or dirt.
- Reconnect power to the water heater.
Commercial Applications
- Well Cleaning Aid:
Calculate the approximate volume of the system to be cleaned including the volume of the casing, screen, bore hole annulus and all associated plumbing. Inject the calculated volume of fluid into well at desired concentration after verifying that supply connections are shut off or otherwise disconnected. Allow product to work for sufficient amount of time (at least 30 minutes). Following use, purge the system until pH returns to normal levels or until at least twice the volume injected is removed. If necessary, sanitize the well following treatment. Maximum dosage 20 gallons Watersafe60 per 1000 gallons water. - Driling Fluid:
When used as a drilling fluid Watersafe60 will help to prolong the life of your equipment and enhance drilling efficiency by softening hard minerals and formations. Additives can be used as necessary to further enhance the performance of Watersafe60. Polyacrylamide or guar based gums may be used to increase viscosity. It is recommended that bench testing be performed to ensure compatibility of any additives. Refer to SDS for list of known Incompatible materials. Do not alter your drilling procedure. When purging the well check pH to ensure it returns to normal levels. Recommended Dosage: 100-150 gallons Watersafe60 per 1000 gallons water. - Pipe cleaning aid:
Product may be used at concentrations up to 100% depending on severity of fouling. Close off or disconnect section of pipe to be cleaned. Drain and fill with Watersafe60 at desired concentration. It is recommended for effective cleaning to use at no less than 15% dilution strength. Allow product to work for at least 30 minutes or longer as necessary. Drain and flush pipes with fresh water checking pH to ensure it returns to normal before reestablishing connections. Recommended Dosage: 175-500 gallons Watersafe60 per 1000 gallons water. - Well drilling aid:
When used as a Well drilling aid Watersafe60 will help to prolong the life of your equipment and enhance drilling efficiency by helping to soften hard minerals and formations. Simply replace a portion of the water used in your drilling fluid with the desired percentage of Watersafe60. Do not alter your drilling procedure. When purging the well check pH to ensure it returns to normal levels. Recommended Dosage: 50-150 gallons Watersafe60 per 1000 gallons water. - Well rehabilitation Aid:

For use to inhibit corrosion and control scale product must be dosed into system using an injection or metering pump. Effective product dosage is based on a variety of factors. For general corrosion and scale control in systems with normal or below normal water hardness recommended dosage in Between 2-10 mg/L. In systems with high levels of mineral hardness dosages up to but not exceeding 80 mg/L may be used. It is best to start at a lower dosage and periodically inspect for scale buildup to determine if higher dosage levels are necessary. - pH Adjustment:
For use to control and adjust the pH of a system it is recommended that your process control system feature pH probes upstream and downstream of product injection point for best accuracy. It is suggested that a bench titration be performed to determine use level for your specific system as the effect on pH will be varied dependent upon water quality. In most cases less Watersafe60 will be needed in comparison to mineral acids to perform the same adjustment. Maximum use Level is 80 mg/L. - Descaler:
OFF-LINE USE:
Product may be used at concentrations up to 100% depending on severity of fouling. Isolate equipment or pipe to be cleaned.
ON-LINE USE:
For on-line use for scale removal and control product must be dosed into system using an injection or metering pump. Effective product dosage is based on a variety of factors. For adequate scale removal and control in systems with normal or below normal water hardness recommended dosage is between 2-10 mg/L. In systems with high levels of mineral hardness dosages up to but not exceeding 80 mg/L may be used. It is best to start at a lower dosage and periodically inspect for scale buildup to determine if higher dosage levels are necessary.
